SBDS Quantity Surveyors, Cape Town 2016/17
On completion of my BSc Construction Studies Degree, I spend five weeks with SBDS Quantity Surveyors, Western Cape. I gained valuable work experience by assisting in the compilation of Bills of Quantities, completing various other measurement exercises and assisting where required on the running of projects. I appreciate the experience gained during this time as it will benefit me during my final year of study in the BSc (Honours) Quantity Surveying Degree.

I enjoyed spending time at SBDS where I learnt more about how the construction industry works and what a Quantity Surveyors job entails. My daily activities included helping out where needed in filing, typing, measurements and writing up documents on excel for Mervyn and Mariki Terblanche, both Managing directors and Quantity Surveyors at SBDS Quantity Surveyors, Cape Town. I became familiar with using Microsoft Excel, which will definitely help me in my studies. Reading architectural drawings also became a lot easier over this period as I was exposed to so many of them.
